What about the Environment?

Ignoring the environment in schools sends a message that it’s not important, but the truth is, it’s just as important as other subjects. Without a planet, we don’t have a place to practice math or write essays.

In the modern age, it has become clear that the environment has been suffering from Human actions over the years. Things like chemicals, plastics, and the overproduction of electronics and clothing have caused the Earth to be on the brink of collapse. Despite this, education about the environmental impact we have on the world is few in schools. It’s just briefly glossed over, not allowing children to know the true impact they have on the environment. It’s not just about the main topics like English, math, and gym. What about the environment?

Teaching students about the environment is critical for shaping a better future. It gives people the knowledge they need to understand how their actions affect the planet and what they can do to make a change. This isn’t just about knowing facts. It’s about understanding connections, like how throwing trash on the ground leads to polluted oceans or how fast fashion contributes to climate change. When people learn about these issues, they are more likely to make smarter choices that help the Earth, like reusing materials or supporting sustainable brands.

Education about the environment also creates a ripple effect. If schools prioritize it, students can take what they learn and share it with their families, friends, and communities. This way, one lesson can inspire dozens of people to make better choices. It’s also about preparing the next generation for leadership roles. Kids who learn about the environment today will grow up to be adults who fight for renewable energy, create new technologies, and advocate for laws that protect nature.

Ignoring the environment in schools sends a message that it’s not important, but the truth is, it’s just as important as other subjects. Without a planet, we don’t have a place to practice math or write essays. Education about the environment ensures people don’t just survive today but thrive in the future.
